Social Science Perspectives on the Welfare State: Thematic Studies

Prerequisites: One of following courses: Swedish Politics and Policy, 7.5 credits, Gender Equality and the Nordic Welfare State, 7.5 credits, The Geography of Sweden, 7.5 credits or equivalent.

Content: The course gives the student the opportunity to develop a deeper knowledge of and reflect on the growth, development and challenges of the modern welfare state from the perspectives of political science, gender studies or human geography. The course starts with an introductory lecture followed by three thematic lectures, after which, in consultation with the supervisor, the student chooses a specific thematic area to deepen their knowledge.

Teaching Methods: Teaching may be conducted in the form of lectures, supervision and seminars.

Assessment: The course can be assessed through written examination, take-home examination, compulsory course components, paper, essay and/or oral examination.
