Prerequisites: Bachelor of Natural Sciences or Chemical engineering with at least 60 ECTS in Chemistry. The applicant must also have qualifications corresponding to the course "English 6" or "English B" from the Swedish Upper Secondary School.

Content: Initially, the course aim at human exposure to environmental hazards and other external influences and effects on human health. Human exposure of environmental hazards is then put into a global perspective with respect to sustainability issues. The final part of the course focuses on multilateral environmental agreements as a tool for managing chemicals in the environment. The course deals with metabolomics and exhibition studies, and provides an insight into how exposure and environmental effects can affect human health. Furthermore, the relationship between human health and global development in terms of sustainability and the environment is treated from an economic, ecological and social perspective. The focus is on how sustainability issues and global agreements to regulate the spread of environmental pollution can affect human health. Finally, national and international agreements on environmental pollution are addressed which aim at regulating hazardous substances in order to protect humans and the environment. The course links national and international chemical regulation with environmental and human health impacts, based on the UN's global sustainable development objective.

Teaching Methods: The course includes lectures, independent work in form of projects and case studies, and seminars. The course uses a problem-based learning (PBL) approach.
