Medicine, Advanced Cell and Molecular Biology, Second Cycle

Prerequisites: Bachelor of Science in Biomedicine, Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Laboratory Science, Master of Science in Medicine, or Master of Science in Veterinary Medicine. Alternatively a first-cycle qualification comprising at least 180 credits of which at least 90 credits are for specialised study in one of the main fields of study biomedicine, biomedical laboratory science, biology or medicine. The applicant must also have qualifications corresponding to the course "English 6" or "English B" from the Swedish Upper Secondary School.

Content: After completing the course, the student will have good knowledge and understanding of the function of eukaryotic cells as well as molecular biology. The student will also have good knowledge and understanding in a selection of cell and molecular biological methods as well as skills and ability to analyse biological material using cell and molecular biological methodology plus summerise and describe scientific results.

Teaching Methods: Lectures, seminars, laboratories and base group. Obligatory attendance at seminars, laboratories and base group as stated on the course timetable. In case of absence from obligatory elements of the course, the course coordinator will decide the way in which this should be compensated. Teaching is in English.

Assessment: Written exam in cell and molecular biology, written report as well as oral presentation and acting as an opponent. Active participation in tutorial group and laboratory work.
