Prerequisites: Environmental Science, Agroecology, 15 Credits or Basic Biology, Cell Biology, 15 Credits.

Content: The course covers the different groups of microorganisms, microbial diversity and their role in food, water and the environment. An in depth understanding of the different microbes including Bacteria, Archeae, fungi, algae, protozoa, nematodes and viruses will be examined together with their interactions in the environment with special focus on sustainable development and food processes.

Teaching Methods: The course includes lectures, seminars, study visit, presentations and laboratory classes.

Assessment: Written examination, seminars and written and oral presentation of laboratory reports.
