Content: The course provides basic knowledge of the structure, physiology and function of prokaryotic cells as well as an introduction to Bacteria and Archaea diversity and nomenclature. An introduction to virus structure and function is included in the course. Furthermore, bacterial diversity in relation to general medical microbiology and epidemiology are discussed. The course includes training in safe laboratory handling of bacteria. |
Teaching Methods: The course consists of lectures, seminars, group discussions and laboratory experiments. |
Assessment: Written examination, seminars and project. Written and oral presentation of laboratory reports and project. |
